how we work & what topics we focus on

when we are working on a artistic project together, we usually start from a point of what affects us personally. Meaning, at the start of a project we ask ourself what it is that moves, inspires or affects us at the moment.

From this point on, we use different artistic methods to gather material as well as doing research on the topic. Often, we combine our topic with a methaphor or image we then use to present our ideas and content in a visual way. One example for this is the metaphor of deep sea creatures as a metaphor for repressed female and queer anger. You can read more about this metaphor on the pages about the projects “tentacles” and “flux 1: the deep sea monster”.

In this stage we sometimes include personal knowledge and experiences through interviewing other people. Out of our then gathered material we develop the scope of the artistic output, drawing upon theatre, spoken word, video, contemporary dance. This could for example be an performative exhibition, a performance, an installation or else, which we next develop, try out, rehearse, change and change again until we are content with it.

these are some topics we have worked on in the past:

  • claiming and relaiming of public space
  • queer and trans identity
  • family relationships
  • (embodied) family rituals
  • queer romantic and sexual relationships
  • sexuality, desire and intimate communication
  • inscription of (female) socialization into the body
  • body dysphoria and embodied trans* experiences
  • queer(feminist) anger and rage
  • emotional resilience, emotional intelligence and mental health
  • discrimination
  • (queer) empowerment
